WHAT WE BELIEVE
-
We accept the Bible, including the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament, as the written Word of God.
The Bible is an essential and infallible record of God’s self-disclosure to mankind. It leads us to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Being given by God, the Scriptures are both fully and verbally inspired by God. Therefore, as originally given, the Bible is free of error in all it teaches.
Each book is to be interpreted according to its context and purpose and in reverent obedience to the Lord who speaks through it in living power. All believers are exhorted to study the Scriptures and diligently apply them to their lives.
The Scriptures are the authoritative and normative rule and guide of all Christian life, practice and doctrine. They are totally sufficient and must not be added to, superseded or changed by later tradition, extra-biblical revelation or worldly wisdom. Every doctrinal formulation, whether of creed, confession or theology, must be put to the test of the full counsel of God in Holy Scripture.
-
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinite, eternal, almighty, and perfect in holiness, truth, and love. He is self-existent, all-knowing, all-powerful, present everywhere, and sovereign over all things.
In the unity of the Godhead, there are three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-existent, co-equal, and co-eternal. The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit, yet each is truly Deity. This one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — is the foundation of Christian faith and life.
-
We believe Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He is co-eternal with the Father and the Spirit. Through Him all things were created. He took on human flesh, was descended from David, conceived by the Spirit, and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, was crucified and died, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father. He is the judge of the living and the dead, the head of the church, and is the believer’s high priest and advocate before the Father.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third divine person of the Trinity, eternally present and active in all ages past, and that he permanently indwells all believers at the moment of conversion. He convicts humans of sin, righteousness, and judgment, enables us in both the proclamation and the hearing of the gospel, gives new life, makes us secure until the day of redemption, and brings about spiritual fruit in our lives, including the giving of gifts by which the church is built up.
-
We believe God created man, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin. We further believe man is a sinner by nature and choice and is therefore spiritually dead. We also believe that those who repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are born again by the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God and cannot be earned by our good works. It was purchased by Christ’s death on the cross, and is possessed permanently by all who have by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
-
Our beliefs about marriage and sexuality – as with all topics – are based on Scripture. God created human beings in his image, male and female. We all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standards in one way or another. Yet His forgiveness, grace, and mercy extend to each of us who turn from our sin and ask for it.
Marriage is a picture of Christ’s relationship with His Bride – the Church. It is defined from the beginning of Scripture as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman and reaffirmed by Jesus as God’s exclusive design for sexual expression.
God designed sexual intimacy for the marriage relationship between a husband and wife and does not endorse or condone it in any other context. Consequently, any sexual expression outside of heterosexual marriage is prohibited by Scripture.
-
God by His Word and Spirit creates the church, calling sinful men out of the whole human race into the fellowship of Christ’s body. By the same Word and Spirit, He guides and preserves that new redeemed humanity.
The church is not a religious institution or denomination. Rather, the church universal is made up of those who have become genuine followers of Jesus Christ and have personally appropriated the gospel.
The church exists to serve Him by faithfully doing His will on the Earth. This involves a commitment to see the gospel preached and churches planted in the entire world for a testimony.
The ultimate mission of the church is worship, study of the Word of God, observance of the ordinances, Christian fellowship, equipping for and practice of Kingdom service and the means by which this is accomplished is the making of disciples through the preaching and embracing of the gospel. When God transforms human nature, this then becomes the chief means of society’s transformation.

We believe Christ instituted the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord's Supper, both of which are to be observed by believers until He returns.
We believe by water baptism a believer publicly identifies with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. We believe that infants of believing parents may be dedicated to the Lord but should not be baptized until they can personally articulate their faith and the purpose of baptism.
We believe the Lord's Supper is a memorial of Christ's death and an expression of our faith in His future coming that is to be continually practiced by all believers. We believe every Christian has a right to partake of the elements of the Lord's Supper but that participation must always be preceded by solemn self-examination.
-
The consummation of all things includes the future, physical, visible, personal and glorious return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead and the translation of those alive in Christ, the judgment of the just and the unjust, and the fulfillment of Christ’s kingdom in the new heavens and the new earth.
In the consummation, Satan with his hosts and all those outside Christ are finally separated from the benevolent presence of God, enduring eternal punishment, but the righteous, in glorious bodies, shall live and reign with Him forever, serving Him and giving Him unending praise and glory. Then shall the eager expectation of creation be fulfilled, and the whole earth shall proclaim the glory of God who makes all things new.
