Boonton, NJ — Three years ago, Chris and Gloria Carpio sensed God beginning to stir something new in their hearts: a call to plant a church in Boonton. For Gloria, it was a homecoming—she grew up in Boonton and already knew its streets, its people, and its rhythms. For Chris, it meant intentionally moving into the town to listen, learn, and understand its spiritual temperature firsthand.

Over the past few years, the Carpios have quietly invested in the town—praying for its renewal, discipling individuals, and building meaningful relationships. What began as a growing burden has now become a clear calling.

“We didn’t want to parachute in and start something without knowing the heart of the town,” Chris shared. “We believe God is doing something in Boonton, and we want to be part of it.”

Now, with a deep love for the community and a vision for authentic faith in Jesus, the Carpios are laying the groundwork for a new church plant—one that’s not just in Boonton, but for Boonton. Their hope is to create a church that is rooted in the town’s everyday life, bridging the gap between the community and the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
